Claudia Dathe
was born in 1971 and studied translation (Russian, Polish) and business administration in Leipzig, Pyatigorsk (Russia) and Krakow. After working abroad for several years in Kazakhstan and Ukraine, she has been working as a literary translator and cultural manager since 2005. She translates literature from Russian and Ukrainian, including works by Andrej Kurkow, Serhij Zhadan, Ostap Slyvynsky and Yevgenia Belorusets. She has received several awards for her translations, most recently the 2023 Wilhelm Merton Prize for European Translations.
