Ahmed Farouk
born in 1971 in Giza, Egypt, studied journalism at Cairo University and translation at the FTSK in Germersheim at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. He has lived in Germany since 1996. In 1995, his first short stories were published in Cairo in an anthology with five other authors under the title Threads on Circles. In 2006, the short story collection Gelber Sommer was also published in Cairo. As a literary translator, he has translated Peter Handke, Günter Grass, Walter Benjamin and Georg Klein, among others, into Arabic. His most recent publication: the Arabic translation of Franz Kafka’s On Building the Great Wall of China and other writings from his estate.
