Najat Hasan
is Assistant Professor of German Literature at the German Studies Department of Baghdad University. From 2005 to 2009 she was a DAAD scholarship holder at the University of Rostock, where she completed her PhD in literary studies in 2010. Since 2001 she has been a member of the Iraqi Writers’ Association and the International and Iraqi Translators’ Association and works. She also works as an interpreter and translator at the Goethe-Institut Iraq and for Iraqi ministries. Her translations include The Adventures of the Mamluk Djaber, Atwa and His Knife from Arabic into German in 2010,Short Stories by Anna Seghers in 2013 and Records of Malte Laurids Brigge into Arabic in 2023. In 2023, she was honoured in Baghdad as one of the 30 best translators in Iraq.
