Heike Brandt
born in Jever in 1947, has lived in Berlin since 1951. She lived in the USA for a year as an exchange student (1964-65) and studied education with a concentration on children’s and youth literature. After that, she first co-founded the children’s bookshop Kreuzberg (1976), then worked as a reviewer (from 1978 for radio and various newspapers), as a translator from English (from 1984, since then she has translated almost 80 titles) and as an author (from 1989, with seven publications). She is a member of the VdÜ/Bundessparte Übersetzer, the VS in ver.di. and the Junge Weltlesebühne Berlin, whose events she organises.
