Holger Fock

born 1958 in Ludwigsburg, has been translating French literature for 35 years, including Pierre Guyotat, Pierre Michon and Antoine Volodine, and, together with his partner Sabine Müller, Patrick Deville, Mathias Enard, Alain Mabanckou, Pascal Quignard, Olivier Rolin and Cécile Wajsbrot, among others. He received the Eugen Helmlé Translator’s Prize with Sabine Müller in 2011. With the author Mohamed Mbougar Sarr, both were awarded the International Literature Prize of the House of World Cultures Berlin in 2023, and were also awarded the Paul Celan Prize of the German Literature Fund in 2023. As a delegate of the VdÜ, Holger Fock was on the board of the European Council of Literary Translators’ Associations (CEATL) from 2009 to 2017, and has been its president since 2015.
