Maria Weissenböck
studied applied linguistics and Slavic studies in Vienna, St. Petersburg and Lviv. Since 2005 she has been a freelance translator from Ukrainian and Belarusian, interpreting in the cultural sector and moderating readings. She is also an employee of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). She has translated works by Taras Prochasko, Lyubko Deresh, Sofia Andrukhovych, Maria Matios, Natalka Sniadanko and Tanya Maljarchuk, among others, into German. Recently publications include Zero Point by Artem Chekhov (Arco, 2022), The Story of Romana: The Amadoka Epic 1 by Sofia Andrukhovych (Residence, 2023) and Words in War by Ostap Slyvynsky (edition.fotoTAPETA, 2023).
